23º 22.692' N109º 25.368' Wsv Singularity16 Jan 2018 - 1315 - We anchored in Bahia Frailes (Which is Spanish for Friers) after motoring about 32nm. We had wind, but it was on the nose. Even if it had been at a better angle, we would have still motored because I need to get the fuel level in the tanks down enough to stop some leaks that have appeared.

We filled up completely at Los Cabos and diesel started leaking around our new fuel tank depth sensors. Once the fuel level is low enough, then I can figure out how they're leaking and fix it.

There were two sailboats already in the anchorage when we arrived and a large trawler named "Fish and Chips" arrived minutes later. We're anchored in about 50ft of water. We could have gone closer to the beach, but I didn't really see the need. The wind is blowing > 20 kts, but the land is keeping the swells from coming in and doesn't have much distance to build fetch.

We'll leave bright and early tomorrow for the 50nm trip to Bahia Los Muertos.

24º 28.638' N112º 0.24' Wsv Singularity2018-01-05 0930 - We had a good time in Puerto Magdalena yesterday. We met up with some cruising friends who had a motor dinghy. Went into the village for a lunch of fish tacos and then they took us over to what they thought would be a lagoon estuary. It turned out to be just a ditch in the desert, but we walked across the "desert" to see the Pacific ocean on the other side. It's a very narrow piece of land, so it didn't take us long. Then we came back to Singularity for a spaghetti supper and good conversation.

Now we're on our way to San Jose del Cabo. The big city! Still no wind because of a high stationed off the western coast of Baja, so we're going to be motoring the entire 190 mile distance and should arrive Saturday morning.

24º 38.124' N112º 8.088' Wsv Singularity1/3/2018 1500, We anchored here at Puerto Magdalena. Bahia Magdalena has quite a lot of water to send out and in during the tides through a small opening. The current was around 2 knts against us coming into the bay.

Unfortunately, it was too early for whale park tours at Abreojos. Oh well. So we had a nice lunch at a small cafe, picked up some provisions at the mercado, and headed on out in the afternoon. There wasn't any wind all night long, so we motored the entire 170 miles. It's looking like we'll want to motor the 190 miles to San Jose del Cabo as well. We'll see.

We're going into the village tomorrow for dinner and then take the rest of the day off and leave for San Jose del Cabo Friday morning.

The wind wasn't much, but it got us here in plenty of time for a daylight arrival and for more practice, we anchored under sail again. The wind piped up to over 20 knots as we pulled into the anchorage!
We managed to miss the crab pots on this leg. Yippee! We'll be here for tonight and then leave for Abreojos in the morning.

27º 2.61' N114º 8.19' Wsv SingularityDeparted Asunción at around 0830 this morning, heading to San Hipolito. Hipolito is a very small anchorage just 20 miles from Asunción. The sail started with 12kts of wind, but soon died and we're doing barely 2kts at the moment. If the wind doesn't pick up, we'll need to start up the engine this afternoon to make sure we get in before dark.

I dove on the propeller yesterday. It only took 10 minutes or so. The line was wrapped in a know around the prop. The line cutter I had installed would have been useless to prevent the prop from get entangled. I'm just glad that we weren't motoring when we hit the line. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and working on projects.

27º 8.286' N114º 17.082' Wsv Singularity1630 12/29, Arrived and anchored at Asunción under sail! Well, the reason we had to anchor under sail and the reason we are at Asunción is because yesterday, soon after leaving Tortugas, we snagged a crab pot on our propeller at some point. I noticed our speed was only 3-3.5kts, even though we were sailing dead down wind, wing-on-wing in 20 knots of wind! Looking astern, I noticed a yellow line trailing from the back of the boat under water. We cut the crap pot loose with a knife taped to a boat hook. But there was still line and a couple floats attached.
We tried to cut it off from the dinghy, but I found that the line was wrapped around the prop. So we decided to sail to the next good anchorage which, after drifting around all night long with no wind, turned out to be Asunción, about 15 miles away. Fortunately, enough wind came up during the day to get us the 15 miles by 1630. Just barely.
Tomorrow I'll dive on the prop and cut away the line. Oh joy! The most difficult part will be diggin out my dive mask and suit from in the v-berth bunk which has a lot of stuff piled on top.

Plenty of wind on the way down and we actually arrived in the vicinity around 0100 in the morning. over 6 years  agoShow

30º 22.254' N115º 57.576' Wsv SingularityWe arrived here at Bahia de San Quintin (Bay of Saint Quintin) 4pm on 24Dec17 after sailing 3 hours and motoring about 5 hours. For some reason, my email to Farkwar didn't get posted so I'm trying again.

Our last anchorage at Bahia Colonet was excellent! Very protected from the NW swells and we had a very gentle roll from the small swells that wrapped around the point.

Anchoring overnight here and heading out in the morning toward Bahia de Tortugas (Bay of Turtles). It's roughly 200nm away and we should get there in two or three days, depending on the wind. This will be our first multi-night passage. Also, because it's so far, we don't have to motor any of the way to make sure we arrive before dark. In the morning, we'll raise the sail and take off.

30º 57.624' N116º 17.01' Wsv SingularityArrived in Bahia Colonet. Much better anchorage than Puerto Santo Tomás! There was a lot of kelp there and it had wrapped around the anchor. There was about 10 lbs of the stuff to cut off!
Anchoring overnight here and heading out in the morning toward Quintin.

Finally started the engine and motored the 12 miles to our anchorage. Of course as soon as we arrived, the wind piped up to 10+ knots. Go figure.
We'll anchor overnight here and head out in the morning.
