8º 24.042' N82º 26.568' WSV Heavy MetalWe are leaving Bocas del Toro today. We will probably stop in San Andres or Providencia along the way to wait for the next weather window. Then its off to Isla Mujeres MX then Florida. All is well on Heavy Metal. Love Rigo, Deborah, Zyon and Hunter. (PS-Don't trust the Farkwar location)about 8 years  agoShow

8º 54.42' N79º 31.554' WSV Heavy MetalWe made it to Panama City! Very uneventful motor sail the whole way. Punta Mala did not end up to be Mala (bad) at all. The currents were a bit strong and it slowed us down to less than 5 kts for a while but we stayed close to the shore and were able to gain some speed back. We made a quick stop in Tabogo first and circled Pappion. Talked with Dan to get the scoop but ended up at La Playita anchorage instead. Today we started the check-in procress with the Port Captain. After they take their sweet time, we should be able to do immagration and whatever else. Then we start the Canal process! Good times! Tonight is a pizza party with some crusiers. We should be able to get all of the local details we need and maybe even find some kids. I'm still working out the Movistar internet plans and hope to get to a real store so I can find something more reliable. All is good aboard Heavy Metal! Deborah, Rigo, Zyon and Hunter (PS. Not sure if our coordinates are right. Farkwar sucks for that. I think one time I ended up in Sri Lanka! Go figure :))over 8 years  agoShow

8º 6.816' N82º 52.026' WSV Heavy MetalWe made it to Panama. We are anchored in front of Hooked On Panama Fishing Lodge in Limones, Panama. Nice welcoming from the owners of the lodge. Mike and Ricardo were very helpful in giving us information of the area and invited us up to the bar for a Balboa beer. Unfortunately our happy hour was cut short when the kids called us from the boat. We forgot to take down the Costa Rica flag and put up the Panama flag and the Panamanian Coast Guard did not like that. We quickly paddled back to the boat, showed our papers and changed the flag. All was good and so far our first few hours in Panama have been great! The Sarana's Guide recommended an anchorage around Punta Balsa but if you go a little bit further you can anchor just off the Hooked On Panama Fishing Lodge. There is even a mooring ball that was offered to us. Super nice people who own and run the Lodge and a great place to have a beer and get some WiFi. over 8 years  agoShow

8º 37.26' N83º 9.18' WSV Heavy MetalWe are in Gulfito now in fronts of Land and Sea Services. Tim and Katie have been a great resource and fun to hang out with. My Dad left yesterday to go back to Tennessee. Last I heard his luggage didn't make. Hopefully it will turn up. We made a trip to the Duty Free zone and stocked up on some liquor and fans. Not real cheap but cheap for Costa Rica. We are planning on leaving this weekend for Panama! We should be in Boca Chica by Sunday. Rigo and the kids made a trip to the border yesterday to get some phone chips for Panama. They haven't been activated yet but hopefully they will work. That's it for now! See you in Panama! (BTW - Our plans are to go through the Panama Canel by the end of December)over 8 years  agoShow
