13º 30.066' N | 89º 29.25' W | Scuba Ninja | We arrived in El Salvador after a 2 day sail across Guatemala. Both nights we had lightning, thunderstorms and strong winds. (Up to 40kts the last night!)
We were met by the pilot boat that would guide us in over the "bar". Basically, there is a sandbar (at low tide it's called a beach) at the entrance of the marina/anchorage and can be entered only at high tide when the surf is deep enough to cover the beach and allow boats to clear ground. We literally caught a set of waves, gunned the motor at full speed and surfed the Scuba Ninja over the beach into the estuary where we will take some time to do some boat projects, explore the country and recharge ourselves a bit. | almost 7 years ago | Show

14º 41.934' N | 92º 23.49' W | Scuba Ninja | Arrived after an "almost" non-eventful crossing of the Tahuantapec into the Mexican/Guatemalan border of Puerto Chiapas. We felt like a knight on a chess board, dodging lightning the last night! ⛈?We are definitely in the tropics! It's hot and humid but oh so beautifully lush!! ⛵️????? | almost 7 years ago | Show

15º 45.828' N | 96º 7.332' W | Scuba Ninja | After a brutal, 3-day motor sail south, directly into steady, 25+kt headwinds, rain, and 10-12ft seas, we finally arrived in a charming little tropical town of Huatulco on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. We are waiting on a good weather window to make our next crossing through "The Tehuantapec", typically a 3 day sail into our final Mexican port of Puerto Chiapas, which is on the Mexican/Guatemalan border, where we look forward to spending some time exploring a new country. | almost 7 years ago | Show

16º 50.622' N | 99º 54.162' W | Scuba Ninja | We sailed into Acapulco, Friday at sunrise. The anchorage is deep and primarily a mooring field so, after fueling up and filling our water tanks, we grabbed a ball and headed to town for provisions. We also said a very sad goodbye to our friend/crew (of the past month), Joaquin, as he leaves us to continue his travels west to the Caribbean.
The next day we were under sail again heading out of the bay (right through the middle of a regatta!) on our way to the next stop, a 2-day sail to Huatulco, a popular spot to wait for weather to make the dangerous trip across the Tehuanapec, the last stretch of southern Mexico.
