19º 11.73' N104º 40.962' WHotel CaliforniaAfter a long stay in La Cruz and a delay on our whereabouts this is a catch up for Hotel california. We left la Cruz Wed Jan 25th at 2:00 A.M. to cross Bandaras Bay and around Cabo Corrientes at dawn, hopeful for a smooth ride and it payed off. We had a good run down the coast with 12 to 15 knots of wind on our aft quarter . Got to fly the big headsail for about an two hours until the wind piped up and had to roll it up. Arrived in Chamela just before sunset for a hot shower - dinner and then to bed to start out again at sunrise to continue south. As we approached Tenecatita we decided to bypass and head straight for Barra as the resort was calling Pam's name. We rounded the point to head into the bay to Barra and then we snagged our third - yes third long line since leaving Mazatlan this year. We shut down the power and rolled in the headsail to have a panga finally greet us and he cut the line and we proceeded to the entrance to the Barra lagoon. The resort here is magical and a great place to soak up the sun and relax during the winter. We will stay here about a month and then take a bus to Zihuatanejo the first week of March to attend Guitar fest to return after a week stay to Barra.

20º 26.724' N105º 13.416' WHotel CaliforniaHotel California arrived in La Cruz on Friday Dec 16th and we have been abound with cleansing the boat and a very busy social schedule. La Cruz is a beautiful place and lots going on in and around Banderas Bay.
On the way down from Mazatlan we encounterd two long lines and I had to put on the scuba gear for the first one and spent about 45 minutes cutting it off the shaft so we could continue our journey south. That one was in the daylight. I was down for a nap off watch and at 2:00 am Pam
woke me to tell me the boat had all of a sudden slowed to 3 kts and we were doing approx 6kts
for the nite time hours before this. After a lot of checking and deliberation and scratching our heads we decided to stop the boat and I fetched the mask and snorkle to have a look underneath.
Finding nothing I had Pam start the engine and put the boat in gear while i was hanging from the ladder with a dive lite staring at the prop - all looked good so we continued on and the boat gradually gained speed. when rounding Punta Mita in the morning hours S/V Myla informed us we were dragging a blue line with a gallon jug attached. Once again we stop the boat and in the water I go again. So hanging around the strut and on the wing of the keel is this line that i drug for the last 50 miles - Holy crap no wonder we slowed down but i didn't see it it the dark at bottom of the keel. So after removing the line and dragging it onto the boat and putting it in a bucket we continued into the bay and into La Cruz marina. Finally got around to catching up on the Farkwar report so that's it.
We will stay until approx Jan 10th or 12th and then continue south to end up in Barra de Navidad for about six weeks - Pam's favorite place to hang out .
Merry Christmas to everyone and a very prosperous and Happy New Year.
