13º 14.892' S163º 6.516' WHoliday Anchor is down. Woop woop woop. I paced back and forth, parallel to shore, near the pass entrance for six hours waiting for the sun to be good and up. I could see the two boats anchored, just on the other side of the reef, the whole time (Its basically a U turn going into the pass, around the island, then on towards the anchorage area). About the time I was preparing to wake CJ to pilot us in, Nomad hailed us. They were just approaching Suwarrows pass too (but still a mile or so away). We discussed pass entrance tactics with Nomad, then off we went. Nomad was behind us close enough at that point to see what course we took, and CJ let them know there was no current to speak of. 16º 26.952' S152º 14.802' WHoliday Wow wow wow. My heart was pounding looking towards the pass into Maupiti.
For a few seconds we thought we would need to keep going another 4 and a
half days to our next destination, but then we saw we could get through.
It is a narrow pass. We had about 2 knots of current against us. We are now
anchored in the Maupiti lagoon. The monohull and the catamaran made it in
behind us too.

16º 29.352' S152º 9.966' WHoliday About 4 and a half nm to our mark, just outside the Maupiti pass. Maupiti has taken shape ahead of us and Bora Bora is now a hazy mountain to our rear. Looks like two other boats had the same idea, they left Bora Bora about the same time we did just ahead of us. One monohull is sailing with its working sails, one catamaran flying an asymmetrical spinnaker with its main up too. I thought one or both might be giving Maupiti a miss based on their previous course, but it is clear now they are heading for the same pass we are. We are flying our symmetrical Wingaker only and have passed both. There are many reasons a boat will be faster or slower but I am loving our Wingaker right now.
