34º 43.998' N | 9º 13.002' W | SY Iris | We are on-route from Porto Santo to Portugal, most likely Lagos. We have been fighting for the miles northwart against a northerly gale. Our efforts to head east to sail south of the low pressure are, has been futilie. For the first time we have enjoyed our personal weather routing service via amateur radio provided by a fellow Norwegian sailor, Per W. Aasheim. A really nice and plesant chat two times a day.

46º 7.554' N | 8º 45.312' W | SY Iris | We have entered our last 24 hours, we expect, of the Biscay crossing. Currently grey weather, with 8-12 knots of wind varying from 75-125 degrees on starboard. The weather forecast - grib - is indicating heavier weather than we would like to have. The only consolation is that the wind - of which there is a lot - is from an advantageous direction. Having reefed down the mainsail to 4th reef and feeling a bit like sitting ducks, waiting for the wind to hit.
