34º 43.998' N9º 13.002' WSY IrisWe are on-route from Porto Santo to Portugal, most likely Lagos. We have been fighting for the miles northwart against a northerly gale. Our efforts to head east to sail south of the low pressure are, has been futilie. For the first time we have enjoyed our personal weather routing service via amateur radio provided by a fellow Norwegian sailor, Per W. Aasheim. A really nice and plesant chat two times a day.
Currently 10kn of wind from 330 degrees.

All is well with crew and ship.

46º 7.554' N8º 45.312' WSY IrisWe have entered our last 24 hours, we expect, of the Biscay crossing. Currently grey weather, with 8-12 knots of wind varying from 75-125 degrees on starboard. The weather forecast - grib - is indicating heavier weather than we would like to have. The only consolation is that the wind - of which there is a lot - is from an advantageous direction. Having reefed down the mainsail to 4th reef and feeling a bit like sitting ducks, waiting for the wind to hit.

47º 25.122' N8º 21.288' WSY IrisStill av very very calm bay of Biscay. Lunch in the cockpit with high glasses and candles. Creeping south-west to catch the wind from behind when it reappears, which it surely will.
6 dolphings kept us company and played around the bow of Iris. A first time - and what a wonder of nature.

67º 40.68' N14º 43.728' ESY IrisAfter a week in Bodø - much longer than expected - with installation, canvas work and small repairs, it was high time to move on.

The desire was to find a quiet natural harbour, which I succeeded in. Anchored at Vettøya with white beaches on two sides. Weather leaves a bit to be desiree.
