12º 9.228' N68º 16.758' WPenny Lane3 nights (465 miles) downwind from Bequia to Bonaire, one of the best dive spots in the world. This is a nice friendly, Dutch island, with a dive site on to the Coral Reef every few yards. Anna flew back to the UK for a few days leaving Sam and I here, catching up on school and work, and enjoying the occasional dive.over 7 years  agoShow

10º 40.758' N61º 38.094' WPenny LaneA one night run down from Grenada to Chaguaramas with just Pete and Sam, to avoid a tropical storm that will probably not hit Grenada anyway, but just might. So we've come to Trinidad for a couple of days. Back in Grenada soon! Lots of friends down here for the same reason, at night the sea was like Picadilly Circus!over 7 years  agoShow

12º 29.058' N61º 29.034' WPenny LaneSandy Island in Carriacou, only just of Hillsborough but a very beautiful anchorage with a white sand beach, and a very attractive coral reef for snorkeling. We were here with the excellent crew of Salmagal and their family, and tried a little more spinnaker flying with them. During the night the wind came up and the anchorage was quite rolly by the morning, so we came back round to Tyrrell Bay to find an anchoring spot in flat water.about 8 years  agoShow

12º 0.024' N61º 45.54' WPenny LaneAnd so to Grenada, where we ended up skipping past St Georges in a day and getting to Prickly Bay, close to the airport to drop off Ben, Nic and Annika. 12º 27.426' N61º 29.154' WPenny LaneReally enjoyed Carriacou, though we didn't get to stay all that long. The Carnival was on including the amazing Shakespeare Mass, a unique Shakespearean verbal-jousting event in the street. After two nights we were off again, passing over Kickem-Jenny, an active underwater volcano on the way down to Grenada.about 8 years  agoShow

18º 30.108' N64º 21.63' WPenny LaneWe finally got into North Sound a little after midnight on the 25th, after a long crossing, though not excessively grueling weather-wise. By listening to the various forecast sources and diving into Beaufort NC for shelter at one point, we had a crossing where the winds never exceeded 35 knots. We did get a bug in the diesel lines however and had to rig our own diesel system from a jerry can, so we are now in North Sound tidying up after that, with much appreciated help from some of the other boats in the Salty Dawg rally.over 8 years  agoShow

33º 21.93' N79º 17.052' WPenny LaneGeorgetown has been another treat, topped off by being visited by our old friends the Currans, who moved over here from Cornwall. Georgetown is a smaller Charleston architecturally, very old, on a brand of the Waccamaw River. Slightly spoiled by a large factory overlooking the anchorage, nevertheless the rest of the town is beautiful, friendly, and a great place to spend a few days. Its also getting very hot now, we're ready to get back to sea for a while and head north, looking forward to catching up with friends, and cooling down a bit! One night we anchored out of the town, very near to an Osprey nest, and watched the Ospreys nest-building with huge sticks, hunting, and eyeing us with a rather cautious hostility.almost 9 years  agoShow
